A Podcast Where Film Fans Watch The Best & Worst Horror Movies EVER!
LISTEN NOW
Following my fun day out at Screams by the Sea where I got to meet Ben and Andy, as well as be briefly inteviewed by them, I have been catching up with some recent episodes of their Horror Hangout Podcast. I am ashamed to admit that I didn’t really know anything about it before I leapt in but I was, at least, coming to it completely fresh. I have listened to various horror podcasts over the years and do enjoy listening to other people talking about the films I love and generally enjoying the genre.
The Horror Hangout is comfortably familiar from that point of view. Take two big horror fans, give them a microphone or two, some special guests and let them talk; it’s a formula that everyone knows, but it works brilliantly. Of course, if you also add in some daft games like the Mount Rushmore of Horror, or Mount Rushhorror and a completely nuts title rhyming game and you get a couple of hours of entertainment that any horror fan is going to enjoy.

Ben and Andy have been doing this for a while as well, and that is clear in both the ease at which they work with each other and their guests, but also in the number of episodes you can tap into. Releasing an episode every Wednesday, they are currently on Episode #383 discussing From Dusk Till Dawn, and have been at it since 2017 with Episode #1 The Devil’s Backbone. I don’t think I will have time to go back to the start and listen from episode 1, but I will definitely search through for some favourites. I have, however, in the last couple of weeks, listened to episodes exploring some new and old classics such as the recently released Sinners, and Nosferatu, as well as older favourites like Critters, Train to Busan, A Nightmare on Elmstreet 4, Krampus and Lake Placid.
And there are also bonus episodes interviewing directors, writers, and fans as well as other specials including the Big Fat Horror Movie Quiz at Christmas which must be a blast to be involved in, but is also great fun to listen to or watch. You can also catch Ben’s brief interview with me in Episode #378 which recounts the fantastic 2025 Screams by the Sea Horror Film Festival!
Episodes are available on the usual platforms like SPOTIFY and YOUTUBE so you can watch as well as listen – a necessity if you want to play along with the Christmas Quiz – and there is bound to be plenty there to keep every horror hound happy.
Ben and Andy are clearly very passionate about horror and love talking about films, books, video games and the people who make the stuff we all love. The podcast is, on the whole, pretty lighthearted, but they do take pretty deep dives into the films they are discussing, going through scene by scene and digging into what makes each of them tick. With this in mind, the episodes are laden with spoilers, so just be careful what you listen to if you haven’t seen the films yet!
The world of podcasting is littered with a plethora of series catering to all tastes and it can sometimes be difficult to wade through and find the ones you want to listen to, so take my advice and give Horror Hangout a go, it’s a lot of fun and, if you listen carefully, you might hear me in an upcoming episode talking about Clown in a Cornfield, which I rather enjoyed!
Enjoy!
**UPDATE** – YOu can now listen to me have a chat with the guys from Horror Hangout about Clown in a Cornfield!
